Characteristics of the West Highland White Terrier
Originally bred in Scotland for hunting, the Westie has evolved into a great companion. In the past they have been referred to as the Poltalloch Terrier and the Roseneath Terrier. They are usually 10 to 11 inches in height and 10 to 18 pounds in weight. They have a short undercoat and top coat that requires regular brushing and, true to its name, is white.
