Temperament
Affectionate, eager, and playful, they are ready and willing to do what it takes to make you happy. Their intelligence makes them relatively easy to train, and early socialization will help your pup grow to be calm and happy around pets, children, and unfamiliar people.
Poodles are alert and eager, and they’re always ready to learn new things.
Though they’re affectionate with family members, they will not hesitate to bark at strangers, both to notify you and to signal their readiness to protect you.
They are a delightful all-around dog that has such strong qualities, it has been a parent breed for dozens of hybrid breeds.
Appearance
Their hair is typically dense, curly, and even wiry. Because they don’t have an undercoat, they are considered hypoallergenic and could be a good choice for those with allergies. Their coats come in many colors:

Exercise
This breed enjoys dog sports such as agility, rally, and tracking, which also make use of both their physical and mental skills. On days when you aren’t training, offer less-rigid activities like games of fetch and playing with toys.
We recommend 60 minutes of activity per day and about 9 miles of walking per week.
Poodles are highly intelligent and multi-talented, and they originated in Germany where they were bred to find and retrieve waterfowl. In fact, they were called “Pudlehund” from the German words “pudle,” which means to splash about, and “hund,” which means dog. As they moved about Europe, they gained a reputation for being fast learners who were easy to train. They’ve worked as truffle-hunters, circus dogs, service dogs, therapy dogs, and even police and military dogs on occasion. After their long working history, they enjoyed cushy lives as companions to nobles of France and other European countries. The breed was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1887. Though some Poodles are still working dogs today, most are happy companions and loving family members.

The Miniature Poodle’s hair must be brushed daily to work out tangles and avoid uncomfortable mats. Bathing and clipping are necessary every three to six weeks, and a regular schedule will also help prevent mats. Grooming the coat can be done at home, though many owners use professional groomers to achieve a specific style or simply to handle a job they are uncomfortable doing themselves. A Mini Poodle with a fresh haircut is proud and dignified! Nails should be ground once or twice a week and clipped twice a month. Brush their teeth daily to keep them healthy and white.
